Today we finished with our presentation on "geological time scale". For tomorrow, we will focus more on the significant events that occurred during each era or eon.

Language Arts:
We are reading our second novel "The Other Place" and the main focus is "Type of sentences - Simple, Compound and Complex"

Homework:

1. Paper Homes - Students have almost completed the first phase of their paper homes. As a next step,  students will check how much thermal energy is lost from their paper homes. For their second phase, students will insulate their homes so that they can reduce the lost of thermal energy from their homes. Today, the students were handed over the rubric for paper homes. Week 1 - January

Happy New Year Families! Here are your updates for last one week after winter break: Language Arts Students have finished their novel "The Other Place" before winter break and have completed multiple reading responses that was provided throughout the novel study. Currently, they are learning to draft a "business letter" as part of their Langevin Market project where they would contact a mentor for their line of business. Social Studies Students are learning about Fur Trade and different phases of fur trade. As a next step, they will be working on a fur trading post project where they would utilize their acquired knowledge from Science about Structures & Forces to build a fur trading post model. Hello parents/caretakers and students, I hope you’ve all had a wonderful September, and positive start to October. The grade 7s have been quite busy. Here’s a glance at what we’ve been up to: MATH Divisibility rule - We have reviewed the divisibility rules for different numbers such as 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Students were engaged in activities such as creating a “divisibility rap/song/poem” that supported their understanding of what it means when a number is divisible by another number and to easily analyze if a number is divisible or not divisible by another number by applying a set of rules to it. Long Division and Multiplication - Students established an understanding for long division and multiplication to help them in circumstances where they do not have a calculator handy and have to rely on their brains to do the work.
