Week 2 - Update

Hello families!

Here's what we have been doing in the last one week:

Language Arts
Students are working hard towards drafting their first business letter. We are in the process of revision and final edit before sending them out to mentors for their Langevin Market Project. We have been also doing paragraph editing where students are given paragraphs with incorrect punctuations and spelling errors. Students get chance to edit the paragraphs on their own and then we check for corrections as a whole class. They submit their best work from the whole week for their assessment.

Math
We have completed the review of integers and learned about integer rules. Students were able to solve integer problems with most efficient strategies without using number line.

Science
We have been learning about structures and forces and how properties of different materials used in a structure plays an important role in a structure. During last week, we learned about different categories of materials and joints used in a structure. Students applied this acquired knowledge in their CTF project - Fur Trading Post model.

Social
Students have produced some beautiful fur trading post model. The have been asked to provide a write-up about the main elements of this interdisciplinary project which includes the elements of Fur Trade form the social aspect and displaying different kind of joints from the science aspect.

Please feel free to let me know for any clarification.

Thanks,
Ms. Thomas
