Week 2 - Update

Hello families! Here's what we have been doing in the last one week: Language Arts Students are working hard towards drafting their first business letter. We are in the process of revision and final edit before sending them out to mentors for their Langevin Market Project. We have been also doing paragraph editing where students are given paragraphs with incorrect punctuations and spelling errors. Students get chance to edit the paragraphs on their own and then we check for corrections as a whole class. They submit their best work from the whole week for their assessment. Math We have completed the review of integers and learned about integer rules. Students were able to solve integer problems with most efficient strategies without using number line. Science We have been learning about structures and forces and how properties of different materials used in a structure plays an important role in a structure. Week 1 - January

Happy New Year Families! Here are your updates for last one week after winter break: Language Arts Students have finished their novel "The Other Place" before winter break and have completed multiple reading responses that was provided throughout the novel study. Currently, they are learning to draft a "business letter" as part of their Langevin Market project where they would contact a mentor for their line of business. Social Studies Students are learning about Fur Trade and different phases of fur trade. As a next step, they will be working on a fur trading post project where they would utilize their acquired knowledge from Science about Structures & Forces to build a fur trading post model.
